Why are infills so important?

Why should your client have infills

The average person has between 90-120 natural lashes per eyelid! We naturally shed on average between 2-5 lashes per day, which only accumulate over the course of a month!

We’ve broken down the math to help explain the average breakdown of how many lashes an individual will lose over the period of 3 weeks.

End of week 1 - you would have lost up to 21 lashes.

End of week 2 - you would have lost up to 42 lashes.

End of week 3 - you would have lost up to 63 lashes.

We recommend that you advise your clients to book their lash infill appointment 2-3 weeks after their initial appointment. Anything over a 4 week period would mean your client is most likely needing a new set, and this point you’ll be spending the same amount of time as you would be creating a new set of lash extensions from scratch.

It’s important that as a lash artist, you understand the lash cycle and the 3 different stages our lashes go through! These stages of growth are Anagen, Catagen and Telogen.

Explaining the lash cycle

It’s important that as a lash artist, you understand the lash cycle and the 3 different stages our lashes go through! These stages of growth are Anagen, Catagen and Telogen.

Anagen - AKA "baby" lash/ The lash is in its active growth stage; they are easily identified as they are shorter in comparison to the other lashes.

Catagen - AKA "teen" lash/ Lashes are their full length and stay in this phase for 2-3 weeks before reaching the final stage of the growth cycle.

Telogen - AKA "adult" lash/ This is the final stage of the growth cycle, you may have also known it as being the "shedding" phase, lashes fall out to make room for new lashes and the Anagen phase starts again.

Knowing the stage of growth will help determine the lifespan of our lash extensions and indicate when infills are needed! Therefore, it is equally as important to educate your clients about the lash cycle and the process, so they have more understanding about the infill procedure!

How to charge for your infill appointments

The answer is different depending upon the artist however this is where you are going to make most of your income, full sets are what are going to draw new customers in, infills are what will keep your clients coming back regularly!

A good starting point if you’re struggling to decide on a price or how you should charge for infill appointments is to research how lash artists in your local area charge, this will help give you an understanding of a standard pricing point!

Charging for infills is something each lash artist offers uniquely; some will have a set charge depending on how many weeks after the original lash appointment others may charge by the time the infills took! There is no correct way of doing this, just what works best for you and your business!
